Magoutis Kostas

Biography

Kostas Magoutis is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Ioannina, Greece. His research interests revolve around distributed systems, improving the availability, manageability and performance of distributed applications, and Cloud computing. Since 2009 he is a senior researcher with the Institute of Computer Science, FORTH, Heraklion, Greece. From 2003-2009, he held the position of Research Staff Member at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, Hawthorne, NY, USA and taught at Columbia University, NY, USA. His research work has received two best paper awards in prestigious USENIX conferences (Annual Technical Conference 2002, BSD Conference 2002) and has led to 12 issued US patents. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Harvard University and is a recipient of J. William Fulbright, Alexander S. Onassis, and EU Marie Curie Fellowships.
